AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 2 GHz:
... AMD 64 has been out a while now, it s a shame that more hasn t been done with this technology. The model I am reviewing has a 1MB cache - there doesn t seem to be a category here for that - everything I say should qualify for both models, although there maybe a drop in performance on the 512Kb cache version. Even 512Kb is a decent amount of cache memory though. To explain briefly, when people refer to bits i... Read the full review: Super Powered by thanatoszane |

AMD Athlon (Thunderbird) ... i build PC's I always use AMD chips. I find that they have just as much capability as an Intel processor of the same spec. For instance if you have an AMD 2000XP its actual clock speed is equivalent to 1.6GHz Intel Pentium 4, but the AMD chip is much more efficient in task management so you feel like your getting a faster processor! An advantage of this chip would be its price. You can get a very decent chip for around £50 which will be capable of competing with Intel chips that may cost upto £40 more. I would defintely recommend trying an AMD chip next time you think of buying an upgrade. Just make sure your motherboard is compatible (usually socke... AMD Athlon XP 3200+ / 2.2 GHz ... The next generation is here! ~#~#~#~ Preface Our computers, operating systems and software have been running on 32 bit technology for some time, rescently however a new technology has graced our table and 64 bit capabilities are arriving thick and fast. The maunfacturers and developers of this 64 bit chip are AMD. They have a history of balancing technology with quality and price. Some of the notable predecessor have been the Duron chip range and the Athlon chip range where they cornered the market by producing reliable, fast and stable processors that were very competitively priced. Having ensured a firm position in the market place they have not sat o... Read the full review: AMD's great, great, great, grandaughter, she's pretty fine(all 64 bits of her) by babajane32 |

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ / 1.83 GHz ... built myself a few PC`s over the years, and i`ve always gone for processors from AMD. They tend to be cheaper and morepowerful than comparable processors from Intel. Anyway, the last machine I built, I put in an Athlon XP 2500+ processor, since it was the cheapest "fast" processor I could find that had a good degree of overclocking ability in it. I installed the processor, which was relatively simple, and turned on the machine. I had upgraded from an Athlon 1.4GHz, so the speed difference was noticible right from the very start. I am extremely impressed with the extra speed ofthis processor - although it only runs about 600 MHz faster than my last pr... Read the full review: WHOOOOOOSH!!!!! by SimonFinnigan |
