One word really does describe how superb this chip is. I got my AMD 2GHz Athlon not so long ago to be the herat of my new video editing machine. A rather beefy heatsink and extra fan seemed a wise decision at the time and I think I'm feeling the benefit of the lot just now. I opted to save on the motherboard and memory byt getting a ... Recently just bought a AMD Anthlon 1800 thinking i was going for the cheap option, which it was, but then again it was so much better than the Pentium i have it was shocking no wonder anyone who knows what there talking about don't sell Pentiums anymore! Once upon a time, intel made something called a pentium processor, and everyone thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. At the time, it probably was the market leader, and was generally pretty cool. Mail order, and large PC companies, started whacking these processors in all of their machines as a selling point. To many people ... Read the complete review

AMD have been in the processor business for quite a while, but it wasn't until their Athlon Thunderbird line of processor that they really entered mainstream acceptance as a competitive processor to the Intel family of processors. Intel had the lead over many of the other CPU manufacturers for quite a while in the past decade, but things are ... Read the complete review

AMD athlon is the hub of my computer brain. I have recently upgraded to an AMD Athlon 1.4 chip and appropriate mother board. I upgraded from an Intel 800 Pentium 3 in order to speed things up a little. This upgrade was painless and not that expensive. For £400 I got a "new" computer this included 256MB extra SDRAM and a CD ... Read the complete review

As a techie, I try to keep up with the current technologies, especially in networking and processing. Recently, I've been reading that companies are discontinuing their production of computers containing the AMD Athlon processor. In my opinion, this is a big mistake. The Athlon XP processor out performs the P4 at 2 GHz when it comes ... Read the complete review

AMD is riding an unprecedented wave of success in the processor market. Although not enjoying the kind of market share held by Intel, AMD has made enormous strides and each set of quarterly results seems to herald a new watershed in terms of overall sales and net income. AMD has done this the old fashioned way, by producing high performance ... Read the complete review

I have to commend any company who has the guts to take on chipzilla (intel) and making such a good job of it. AMD are the only chip company to really break away and develop a half decent product that actually has intel running scared. And i have to say the Athlon technology is superior to that of the intel alternative and what is ... Read the complete review

Once again the CPU battle fires up, with AMD announcing the release of there new processor next week. Code named Palomino. The new AMD 4 will be nicely positioned to corner the notebook market also, as the P4 has no plans to release a notebook size CPU untill the first half of 2002. One of the main points with the new AMD Athlon ... Read the complete review

AMD chips are currently cheaper and in some cases faster than Intel. Certainly the Pentium 4 has been outperformed by AMD chips in some benchmark tests. AMD would therefore seem to be the way forward but there are still choices to be made. Slots or Sockets? The slotted board was introduced by Intel for the Pentium II and followed by AMD ... Did you know the AMD have stollen 72% of Pentiums sales. Pentium are looking to go out of business/bankrupt soon. I think it is funny how a different brand of processor just comes along and sudenly hits the market big time. The AMD runs 14% faster than the Pentium of the same standard and has two Caches, one of 133Mhz and another of 256Mhz. From ... Read the complete review
