Advantages: Cheap, fast, supported via 3D now instruction set

Disadvantages: Games that don't support the K6-2 version of 3D-now do have perfomance hits

I have one of these proccessors, ever since I got my computer in February for £500.

I can play most games at extremely high speeds, in fact in Quake 3 I can max it all out at 1024 x 960 and it still runs very smoothly (25+ frames a second). All the games that I run are proccessor intensive but my system competes very well, I can even play Nocturne @ max detail, with no slowdown, other games I play include, Messiah, Hidden and dangerous, Swat 3, Ground Control, and Unreal Tournament. I have no problems with any of these, in fact all but Mes
siah played superbly when I only had 64mb Sdram, but since I have upgraded to 128Sdram this runs like a dream.

So if you want a cheap proccessor I would have no problem in reccommending a K6-2, get a 500mhz version for slightly under £40 you know it makes sense.

Here are my system specs:

Amd K6-2 450
TNT2 M64 32mb
(this is not the best card, but is cheap and runs games well)
128 Sdram
(I used to have 64mb, 128 speeds the computer up lots!)
Sound blaster live platinum sound card - very cool :-)
8.4 gig hard drive
