Like the Titanic it may faulter, though with much less warning. I currently am running an AMD k6-2 550Mhz processor and there is an occasional hault in progress and in more extreme cases a total reset. I on many occasions have been browsing or word processing and the processor decides to switch itself off, then on, then off yet ... Read the complete review

The k6 2 range of processors by AMD are a very good and reliable chip, the price factor and overall reliability make them a very goo alternative to the pentium processors. I am using the k62 500 on a gigabyte ga5ax m/board at present and in my opinion it performs amazingly well in gaming and general day to day use. I also build computers and we ... I have a now rather outdated AMD K6 II 400, I have clocked it up to 450MHz and it still runs fine, it hardly ever crashes and my system which has 128MB RAM runs nearly as fast as new 800Mhz celerons! Ok its no Pentium III or Athlon butfor the money I can’t fault it. I normally upgrade my CPU every year but ive had this one for 2 years and it ... Read the complete review

Why bother writing about a processor that's almost at the end of it's shelf life? Mainly because of DooYoo. I've read a couple of opinions that seem to promote this processor and I have to ask why (if this op upsets those reviewers then I'm sorry, but this is my opinion). It's stuck in a motherboard format that is not much ... Read the complete review

At some point last year, well more than a year ago, I decided that I needed to boost the speed of my computer a bit. I didn’t want to spend too much; I only really wanted to upgrade my processor. I had a look at what was on the market and I was quite restricted as the motherboard I had was quite old. It was a choice between an Intel chip, ... Read the complete review

I bought my new PC a year ago with the AMD on board, all was well, until I consistently started getting VXD VMM errors on the Blue Screen of Death, and illegal operations. Calls to tech support, driver upgrades you name it, I tried it. Now I'm no techie in desperation I copied the Fatal exception text into Google and was taken to: ... Read the complete review

I personally rate the K6-2 right along with the Intel Celeron, I have 2 computers that have k6-2 processors in them, one is 233 mhz and the other is 300 and both run like a pile of junk. I also have a PIII machine which runs perfect granted it is a 550 but has been compaired to a k6-2 500 and it out performs it hands down... I understand ... Read the complete review

I got my first amd k6-2 200mhz processor ages ago when they were fairly new. I liked it so much that when it got to the time i 'needed' an upgrade to my processor and motherboard I chose the amd k6-2 500mhz version. These are fantastic processors, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. In fact I ONLY reccomend amd processors. ... Read the complete review

A year ago i had a cyrix 200+ and wanted an upgrade so i could survive doing some graphics work. I opted for the AMD K6 2 500. Well for 50 quid i got a lump of pig iron. Or at least thiats my opinion. On placing it in the board i found it to be slow and hot (even after applying thermal transfer paste and a stonking heatsink) I got the impression ... I bought a AMD k6-2 500 chip about a year ago now and I have to say that at the price I paid it has served me well. If you expecting something that will set the world alight then you will be disappointed. The processor can handle every day windows tasks quite well but when it gets to games it struggles. I am not saying that it wont play them but ... Read the complete review

I bought an AMD K6-2 about a year ago, thinking I'll probably have to replace it not long after a year, but I was surprised to find that it is brilliant value for money. My previous proccessor, a cyrix had a PR of 233 but ran at 180MHz. But the K6-2 is rated at 550Mhz and actually runs at 552MHz, which is brilliant for such a cheap chip. ... Read the complete review

1.What’s wrong with AMD? I’ve got one. AMD are a company that are not as large as Intel Pentium, therefore most software designers and programmers design their software for Intel Pentium. Using AMD with these software programs may reduce the speed at which they run. 2.So, my processor’s 1 GHz and my friend has ... Read the complete review

I have just got a new computer with an AMD K6-2 processor. I have been using the computer for ages and I have no problem with it. I see it as just the same as the intel and all the other processors, but luckly, it is much cheaper than other processors. If I were you, I would go for a AMD K6-2 as it will do the same job as every other. It is great ... Read the complete review

During the Summer I brought a K6 2/500 PC for just £402 new with 64MB of memory, 10GB hard disk, speakers, 56K modem, Windows 98 preinstalled Etc. This price included a reconditioned 15" Samsung Monitor. As the technology is getting older all the time, you may even get it cheaper now, but you will need to search hard for a good deal. ... This is a great proccessor for anyone who wants a budget performance PC. Its performance with general applications and games is more than adequate for any home PC user. I have a K62 350 and am able to run games like Counterstrike, Quake 3 etc. Admittedly it isn't nearly as good as the Athlon but then it doesn't cost nearly as much, its ... Read the complete review

AMD K6-2 CPU The K6-2 came out a long time ago to offer an alternative to the Intel Pentium II and the Cyrix MII. As for speed it offered very respectable speed but never quite beat the Pentium II. However this CPU is still going strong available in speeds of 500, 533 and 550 MHz now. This CPU was also the first CPU to feature 3D Now!, the ... Read the complete review

This is 2000. I'm still running a 386 at 20MHz from 1990. Hmmm, time to upgrade. But look at these prices! I can't afford them! But when I found AMD's processors, the one thing that struck me was their price. I bought an AMD K6-II 500MHz chip for approx £55 (inc vat), and looking across the list I saw that the prices of ... Please forgive me, i think that AMD rule the processor game! they are far better than Intel. I mean you take a look at the price difference! it is unbeleiveable! I have had my K6/2 for over a year now and it is still running strong and this PC is on continuously. The speed of this is also good (even though it is only a 400) though i do admit ...
