Evergreen Spectra CPU upgrades (General Comments on Processors)
Advantages: instant speed with easy installation Disadvantages: small % of PC are not compatible
The Evergreen Spectra range of CPU upgrades are a brilliant piece of kit for people like myself who have an old PC and a limited budget and cannot afford a new CPU, new motherboard and new RAM. They are available in 233, 333 and 400Mhz versions and the installation process is very, very simple indeed, with the upgrade simply slotting straight in to the ZIF socket that your old CPU was in. The install disc then on reboot checks your new CPU and benchmarks it against your old one. The main benefit is when you are on the web, it seems much faster simply because the new processor can cope better with all the decompressing that is associated with the Internet. Summary: |
