Intel on the Slippery slope?? (General Comments on Processors)
Member Name: andycharger
Advantages: Cheaper prices Quicker technology advances Disadvantages: Outdated technology happens quicker
It seems like forever since INTEL have been the market leader in producing state of the art processors. First it was the Revolutionary Pentium Chip that took over from 486 technology. Then Pentium II came along and pushed the limits further. Now Pentium III has advanced to a new level of computing. But wait.... AMD Athlon seems to be the new mover and Shaker. I have not tried a AMD chip yet so I cant comment but it appears to be better than Intel. Could this be the end for the market leader or does it have another trick up its sleeve to play?? I would think through all of its experience on Chip design it would be able to match this Athlon chip. I expect a new market smasher to come along. It is good news for the consumer because it means that there is a true competitor for the intel house so its prices will come down. Summary: |
