Personal Assistant:
... thought of as a glorified secretary, a Personal Assistant (PA) is much more than that - if they re any good, anyway. I ve been a PA in 2 different roles, one to the CFO of a multi-national advertising company and, currently, to a Professor at one of the UK s top Universities, so here are my thoughts and advice on this position, which I hope will be of help to anyone considering PA-ing, anyone just plain curious... Their role is to provide secretarial support to both consultants and junior doctors. It is a challenging job but one that it is also rewarding, both personally and financially. Skills and Qualifications Required Most job descriptions for medical secretaries will regard RSA 3 or equivalent typing qualifications as essential as well as experience of audio typing. More and more advertisements are also requesting the ECDL qualification. Don t be put off though if you don t have these qualifications as relevant experience and your ability are equally important. Receptionist ... have had a weekend job since September 2005 and I work as a receptionist at a car dealership. As I ve been in this role for about 2 and half years, I feel as though I can offer some information about the job. A bit about the company I work for a local car dealership in the town where I live. The company has three branches within the region. The branch I work at is a double franchise (Peugeot and Chevrolet) but the other two branches are not (just Peugeot). How I got the job When I was in year 10 I carried out my 2 weeks work experience here (as a clerical assistant rather than a receptionist). They were pleased with my performance and the summer of the following ... Read the full review: Receptionist at a Car Dealership by bluejules |

Charity Fundraiser ... few years ago, with one of my temping jobs I was a charity fundraiser. It paid well, offered flexible hours, comfortable working environment and there were some fantastic people working there. However, I left after only a couple of months, as it was often very disheartening on the job. My job, more accurately, was to be a telephone charity fundraiser - that is to try to raise money through calls. Lists of numbers are provided to us and we would have to ring up these contacts to explain our cause and to try to encourage some donation of funds! The type of donation is important for the company I worked for. We are asked not to encourage one-off donations but to re...
