Disadvantages: not always worth it

I did not take a gap year between my A-levels and university, but several people I know did. I think it very much depends on who you are to if you should take one or not. I can say that I am almost certainly glad I did not. Some of my friends travelled a lot, and spend lots of money, and others worked hard to earn some cash. The people I know who took this year out all say that they enjoyed it, but they are not generally any more amazing people for doing it. If the idea attracts you, make sure you do something amazing – don’t spend a year stacking shelves in your local supermarket.
