I would strongly advise anyone about to go to University to take a gap year. I went straight from school to University and left after three months - I just wasn't ready to be there. I had had enough of education, I had chosen the wrong course and I hated every minute of it. So, I packed it in, got a job, then went away and loved every second of it. I came back and went back to university, doing a different course, and I have now just graduated. My gap year was such good fun and you may never get the chance to do all the things you want to if you don't take a year off.

Most of my friends took a gap year and have now left university. Several friends didn't take a gap year and regretted it. I just wasn't ready to face three years of university having worked so hard for my A-levels. Take a year off, have some fun and then go to university. You'll be sorry if you don't!
