      Very helpful

Java is a computer programming language that, at its simplest, requires little more than a text editor (like Notepad in Windows) and a copy of the Java compiler (the JDK from Sun). In contrast many other programming languages, like Visual Basic, usually need a special programming environment to code, compile and run the programs. Programming environments (IDEs) come in all sorts, from great big bloated behemoths like Microsoft's Visual Studio down to slimline programming editors. Despite Java's simplicity, a lot of Java IDEs are huge disk-spanning beasts. Programs like JBuilder, IBMs Visual Age and so on are complex environments that often complicate the processes that are supposed to simplify. JCreator is different. It's small and compact, it takes up a modest 4MB of disk space compared to 130MB for an average install of Visual Basic. It's fully functional, allowing the coding, compiling and running of Java programs and applets. It includes context-sensitive help, linked to the JDK so you can get help on the different parts of the Java language and programming APIs. Code completion is also included, which is very useful. Sure, you could use an editor like Notepad, but JCreator has plenty of extra functionality to help you. If there's a drawback it's that JCreator runs under Windows, there's no Linux or Unix version. So, if you're learning Java or are looking for a fast and efficient programming environment then JCreator is definitely one to look at. Not only is it free, it's also a small download compared to some of the better known Java IDEs.
