It's fully functional, allowing the coding, compiling and running of Java programs and applets. It includes context-sensitive help, linked to the JDK so you can get help on the different parts of the Java language and programming APIs. Code completion is also included, which is very useful. Java is a computer programming language that, at its simplest, requires little more than a text editor (like Notepad in Windows) and a copy of the Java compiler (the JDK from Sun). In contrast many other programming languages, like Visual Basic, usually need a special programming environment to code, compile and run the programs.
