If you want to build a simple database from the ground up then Micro$oft Access looks like a good bet. If you start to poke around, though, you ll soon discover holes in Access. That might sound innocent enough but this function is not like an in-built WinZip, no, Access databases are -very- prone to inexplicable bloating. I started to use visual studio at university a few years back when teachers started to make us mechanical engineers learn the likes of C++, C# and Visual Basic.
