This week I was able to use Acer X1160Z digital projector. Come join me and I'll take you up for closer look at this product. I'm hoping to give you my review, user experience and my rating and be able to guide you somehow with your decision. So, let's begin with the brand itself...

Is ACER a good brand?

I worked in a computer retail company few years back, (before I shifted to nursing). My company back then was an authorized distributor/ service center for Acer in our area. I had given the chance to attend some training and seminars conducted by Acer Philippines and learn much of their offerings. Comparing it with other brand, one good thing I've noticed about ACER is their competitive price considering the innovations, unique design and features of its products, from desktop, notebook, projectors to servers, etc. We've also been a long time partner/reseller for IBM and HP-Compaq product lines that's why I can compare differences between these brands. And, I can tell that Acer brand is highly competitive enough with regards to technical specifications, design, and the cost. Plus, the warranty, service offering and support is of the same standard as that of IBM or HP. No wonder that today, Acer has become one of the top five and fastest growing global brand.

Overview on some of its important Features and Specs
I really like the glossy black surface, slim compact appearance and stylish design. It weighs just around 2.3kg. With Advanced Acer ColorBoost II technology, this projector really give a satisfying vivid, sharp image output with 2000 ANSI Lumens brightness and a 2000:1 contrast ratio which projects a crystal clear images from a long distance on a large screen and Native SVGA (800 x 600) resolution.

Comes with a detachable remote control with features like Acer ePower Management, Acer eView Management, and Acer eTimer Management. Also features the Acer SmartFormat technology for a less complicated resolution setting. I remember when we first use this projector, we simply plug it in on a laptop and it automatically detects the resolution settings. That means, its completely plug and play.

Acers also boast this power management or power saving feature called Acer EcoProjection technology which cuts of as much as half the power consumption when on standby mode. With up to 4000 hours of lamp life. Another feature is called the Acer InstantPack technology which disables the cooling period thing, so you can immediately unplug and pack it up after turning it off.

Other significant features includes Digital zoom, detachable remote and PIN security.

What makes Acer projector different?

Acer Projector uses the so called DLP (Digital Light Processing), a technology developed by Texas Instruments which results a sharper contrast and higher contrast ratio projection. I have seen other projector output before but not as vivid, clear and sharp as this product. You won't definitely fail to notice this.

Product Experience:

I am part of the music/video ministry of my church in which we share gospel presentation among people inside and outside the church, and mostly our target audiences were youth groups and students. Based on our experience, its really hard sometimes to grab the attention of these people group if you will not make use of technology in delivering information to them. We started up sharing our first ever video presentation using just a laptop and a 17" computer monitor. Due to the limited, small viewing screen, we realized that we really need bigger screen to be able to reach out more to people. After a few months of praying and planning how we could able to come-up with the fund, we finally got some good amount. We have a limited budget that's why we are considering any cheapest brand available. I consider and had suggested Acer brand beforehand and its good to know that when we check out the most affordable LCD projector at the local computer store, Acer X1160Z projector is the cheapest brand on stock. Considering the technology, the innovation, the design and the feature? Acer is definitely the best brand to consider.
