The first movie we popped into this after buying it was "Snatch", then we watched "lock stock and two smoking barrels", but to really test black levels we chose "Doom". Snatch and Lock stock are fabulous movies, and those who haven't seen it should, they're fun movies to watch and there are fast scenes with sudden color inputs that are easy to test the projector's capability in color reproduction. Especially when I have a Dell U3011 next to it playing the same content, I use it to verify how well the projector's colors are. Doom is a crap movie, but I think it's a great way to test the projector's black levels. Out of the box the projector is quite bright, and I'd recommend those who need a brighter than average entry level projector to get something like the W1200. Brightness will also help you attain a large display, such as 150"+. Colors are spectacular and this model is extremely sharp on details. I tried playing around with a excel spreadsheet zoomed out, and you can see all the numbers and lines differentiated with no difficulties. Another main feature on this projector is the added frame interpo. which increases the speed and smoothness of the content for faster paced scenes. One thing I do enjoy the thought of the manufacturers doing is adding the speakers on the unit. It helps especially when you are a beginner in this field and all you really want to do is make it portable or plug and play use. Not every HT projector out there will include speakers on it, which are not small on this unit (easily exceed laptop speakers), so it won't be loud enough for a group of 10 viewing, but it'll be enough for you and a significant other or a few buddies.
