Advantages: Crystal clear images
Disadvantages: Cost of the replacement lamp
This is an exceptional machine, giving crystal clear images on a large scale with NO distortion. I use the projector in Church and the images are projected onto a screen 8ft by 7ft. The projector is ceiling mounted and all the functions are activated by remote control form a position approx 50ft away. The images I have projected are 1. Power point from the computer, 2. Video from a VCR 3. Films from a DVD player 4. Live Football matches (Euro 2004), all of these go through an Allen and Heath sound desk and are amplified to give the very best sound and picture quality. Technical Stuff On the machine you have the following connections. The Back of the machine ü DVI Terminal ü S-Video Terminal ü Video Terminal ü Audio (Mono)/L Terminal ü Audio R Terminal ü USB Terminal ü RGB IN 1 Terminal ü RGB IN 2 Terminal ü RGB OUT ü Control Terminal ü Audio IN RGB1/DVI Terminal ü Audio OUT Terminal ü Y Terminal ü Cb/Pb Terminal ü Cr/Pr Terminal The Top of the machine The control panel allows you to zoom, focus, reset, name, temperature indicator, input button, lamp indicator and standby/on button. Front and Sides ü Remote sensor, ü Lens ü Air Filter ü Ventilation Openings ü Carrying Handle ü Foot adjustments ü Terminal Panel ü Speaker ü Power switch ü AC Inlet The Remote Control This allows you to perform all the functions of the projector from a distance, as already explained I operate the projector from a distance of approx 50 ft. When using the remote a menu appears on the screen and it is very east to follow. You can perform the following functions, ü Blank the screen, (this is necessary when the projector is not being used for a short time but will be required later) ü Use a laser beam to help people follow the images on the screen (
th is is a proper laser beam and should not be abused by shining it into someone?s eyes) ü RGB button, (this is used to switch the input signal from RGB 1 to RGB 2 and Video, thus allowing 3 inputs to be used from the one projector. A very useful function to have as this saves you the time and trouble by not needing to change leads. ü Keystone ? This allows you to fix the angle of the image being projected, ü Freeze button (freeze the image on the screen) ü Mute button ü Volume control ü Zoom button ü Focus button ü Magnify button ü Stand by ü Video button ü Auto button ü Menu button The following functions can be operated using the mouse on the computer provided the two machines are connected, ü Select the menu ü Select the function ü Use the right button the reset the complete settings of the machine. Installation of the projector. The size of the image to be projected is determined by the distance from the projector to the screen. The larges image, which can be projected, is 5 Metres and the distance for the screen needs to be between 7.4 Metres and 9.8 Metres. The image will be projected at 1024*768 dots. The angle of projection can be between 0 and 9 degrees, and can be adjusted with the adjustable feet. We have out projector mounted onto the ceiling and there is still the possibility of adjusting the angle. If the angle you require cannot be achieved, you can use the keystone button to help fill the screen. Operation of the projector The basic operations are performed from the remote control (the functions on it are mentioned above) or from the control panel. Maintenance Warning ? A mercury lamp is used in this unit and is made of glass and has internal pressure. The lamp can burst with a big noise due to deterioration resulting from a shock, crack and passage of time. Each lamp has a different service life and can som
etimes end up burst or turn to unlit after a short period of time. If the lamp dose blow up ? watch out for those fragments of glass!! Lamp Life ? Projector lamps have a finite life. The image will become darker, and hues will become weaker, after the lamp has been used for a long period of time. The length of the lamp is normally 2000 hours, on the screen there will be an indicator giving you adequate warning that the lamp is reaching its 2000 hours. (The lamp will automatically switch off after the 2000 hours and will not go on again ? THIS IS A SAFETY MECHANISM TO HELP STOP THE BULB FROM EXPLODING). At this time you need to be ordering a new lamp. Once the lamp is replaced it is essential to reset the timer back to zero or the lamp WILL not work. Air Filters ? There are 2 air filters, which should be cleaned after 100 hours. If they are not cleaned and there is a lot of dust, the projector will give you a warning that they need to be cleaned. If they are not cleaned the projector will shut down until they are cleaned. The Downside of this machine There is only problem with is machine and that is the COST. Machine costs £3650.00 and the LAMP costs £382.42 and only last 2000 hours. Hope this has been of some help.
