Projectors are a great way to get a full size cinema lie picture for entertainment purposes or business. Projectors vary in quality and features depending on the price. The more you pay the better it will be.
HP makes good products when it comes to IT and personal technology. This is another success from my experience.
When I first saw the Hp projector I was amazed by the sexy design and glossy black finish. It came to my imagination that it will match very well with my house colour scheme. My walls are white so I have plenty of wall space for a large picture. The device is so light and very easy to setup in terms of installation.
First use of the device it looked amazing in terms of picture quality and brightness. The movies looked crystal clear and picture motion is smooth! The device is not that large so it can easily fit on a table or be mounted onto the roof. The boot up time is very quick and powers own rapidly also.
Games run nicely and look excellent. You must be in the dark to get the full benefits. Connecting to computers is great to get a large picture of your desktop to view photos etc.
The menu system is very easy to use. Its user friendly and they are very easy to understand. It has a very handy help feature. The instruction manual explained all the features nicely and in great detail. There are nice power saving features to help get he most life out of your lamp. Picture quality and brightness was not affected so its a bonus.
Lamp life is expected to last around 2000 hours which I a long time for home users. Business users will run through them much quicker due to the device being switched on for many hours of the day for presentations etc. The downfall is that in the future you will get a lam that will fail and blow up at the end of its life. Lamps can cost up to $600.
Overall it is a superb product that will last you years to come. I have been using it for 3 months and have not had an issue with the lamp or the device mechanically. It's very affordable an does the job well.
Do not expect to find technical data in this review - I am hopeless at that :) but I can give you an honest and genuine review from the point of view of the user.
This is our second projector at our home cinema, bought second hand from Ebay (300 GBP) about six months ago. Our first one was also not bad at all - one of the very first Sanyo projectors - sadly, the lamp has blown up, R.I.P...:)
First impression of HP - it is incredibly light and modern-looking and much smaller than Sanyo. It does not even fill up the space on a special table for the projector.
An excellent difference is the LUMENS number, that is the 'thingy' that enables you to watch films when it is not completely dark outside. In fact, we tried to watch in the day and it is OK! Obviously, it is far more better at night:)
A great thing is the lamp saver mode - as the producer states- it may save you up to half of the lamp life hours. Ours is continuously in this mode and we actually do not see the difference.
It turns on and off very quickly, the menu is clear and intuitive, does not overheat or causes any sort of trouble.
We have not tested it on games yet - our impression is that it is great for gamers, as the picture quality is very similar to those on LCD monitors - but still to be tested.
We use it sometimes every day for DVDs, music videos, DivXs and many other formats - no problems whatsoever.
Update as of 21.03.2010: HP used daily for 2 - 3 hours and works perfectly fine, both with DIVX and HD - best purchase so far.
