Advantages: Lightweight, compact, good picture quality

Disadvantages: None really. It's much better than you'd expect at that price.

This is an incredibly good projector for the money. It cost me around £280 from PC world. The picture quality is pretty good, though it must be said that it works much better in a darkened room. I've used it for everything, from hooking up to a PC, watching TV and films, to playing Wii, and there's not one point where I've been disappointed by it.

The bulb life is good on this one too, one of the reasons why I opted for it. The bulbs are around £120 on the internet, so pricy but not as much as some.

It's not too noisy, and it's also pretty small and light, so you won't need to worry about bringing the ceiling down if you're mounting it. Another thing worth mentioning is that it's pretty resiliant towards the odd knock. A couple of my taller friends have bashed their heads on it, and it's not so much as flickered.

The quality's not quite up there with the big HD projectors, but if you're just starting out with a home cinema setup, you could do a lot worse.

Going through the functions, it has plenty to fiddle with, from gamma correction, different light modes, and of course you can turn the image upside down or invert it depending on what you want to do. You can also move the menu around the screen, something that is far more useful than it first sounds!

All in all, I'm completely happy with it. One day I'd like to upgrade to an HD model, but for now I can't really fault the Optoma.

Summary: The quality's not quite up there with the big HD projectors, but if you're just starting out with a
