Advantages: Build Quality, Price, Image Quality, Simplicity, Quiet, Bulb Life
Disadvantages: Only Manual Focus, Remote Control Feels Cheap
As far as projectors go, this is at the low end of the scale. I bought mine for £250, a bargain considering the quality.
The unit is very small - it's like Optoma squeezed it into the bottom third of a bookshelf speaker. It's also quite light, it feels not much heavier than a large book.
Build quality is ok, for £250 i got a little bit more than i was expecting in terms of rigidity. The only exception is the silly little leg that allows you to raise to projector for higher mounted screens.
The unit comes with an handy remote control that allows you to control everything except for the focus, zoom and stand height.
As far as feature go this unit is about in the middle. You can alter colour settings, brightness and contrast as well as a few advance features such as frequency. However, the average purchaser is going to someone who wants a projector to project and nothing more. Thats what you get - plug it in; switch it on; plug in your VGA or Video source and your away. Light is not an issue: in a fully lit room you can easily see the image.
You input choices are limited to: VGA, S-Video and Video. Not too great but it get the job done.
Image quality is fairly decent. In a dark room away from the screen there is no sign of pixels nor the colour-wheel effect. However, if you sit close to the screen (about 1.5M and less) then you will notice both.
The machine is remarkably quiet an so you could easily use it as a home cinema unit. It is astonishingly quiet considering the bulb is 1800 lumens bright. The bulb itself will last between 2000 and 3000, which is about average.
Overall comment: You can't go wrong for the price.
Summary: You can't go wrong for the price.
