5th AvenueNewest Review: ... £2 on a Saturday with a flyer or NUS card and £3 after 11pm with the NUS or a flyer which to me isn’t really expensive at all compared to what some clubs charge. You pay at the entrance then you go downstairs and the club is in here, the music is loud right away and this club gets very overcrowded and has a lot of pushy people but normally the wait at the bar isn’t long. The staff all serve ... more |

5th av is a good night out, but I went last night (birthday night out) and had my hat confiscated. No worries, I thought, I'l just collect it at the end of the night. When I politely asked for my hat back at the end of the night, the lady went mental and called her big boy bouncers down, who for no reason whatsoever bodyslammed me then dragged me up the stairs. When a friend of mine questioned this treatment, he was dragged around the back of the club and smacked so hard he's still got blood dripping down his face.
Then they stole my phone.
So good club, poor doorstaff, very very poor.

I love a good night out and since becoming a student in the Manchester area I have had to start all over again by finding out what clubs and bars I should go to or where I will like. I don’t mind the music in most clubs as usually it’s just general chart music but I hate clubs which play a lot of dance music. So, after one disastrous night trying out the Print works I found myself a lot less poorer and not really having that much of a fun night so I’d suggest avoiding there because the clubs are over hyped and to be charged £6.80 for a double vodka and coke made me feel sick so I decided I would not let this disaster of a night get me down and decided to try ... Over the weekend I had my first experience of 5th Avenue. I must confess I have never been out round Manchester before but my flat mate invited me back for the weekend so thought it would be a bit of a giggle. Although I’ve only been the once I’m pretty sure that my experience was the typical 5th Av night out. 5th Av is located in the centre of Manchester, on Princess Street, near the HSBC and BBC Buildings. I’m not sure where it is in relation to other clubs etc. and it was a little bit tucked away. I went with my flatmate as a guide so if you were to visit I’d suggest going with someone who knows the area. You’re most likely ... Read the complete review

The one thing that has always struck me about 5th Avenue that you rarely feel anywhere else in Manchester is the safety of the place. Probably due to the fact that the music played there keeps out the scally hordes, most people in 5th Avenue are out simply for a good night of music and cheap drinks. And that is what they get! Favourites by bands like the Stone Roses, Charlatans, Shed Seven, and Oasis are regularly played, and on some occasions you'll be lucky enough to hear The Smiths and even The Buzzcocks. 5th Avenue DJ's certainly like the local bands. The dance floor sometimes gets cleared by the DJ foolishly deciding to play Rage Against The Machine ... Read the complete review
