5th Avenue (Manchester) Reviews

Newest Review: ... candy, pinball machines and things that were not what you would expect hence the name monday madness, I stayed until about 1am and didnt see any sign of this. The night started at 10pm and ended at 2.30am so thats four and a half hours which for a Monday is ok I suppose. Drinks- This is the best thing about this club they are just so cheap, you could expect to pay around £1 a drink and get three skittle bombs for £1.50. All the drinks come in lastic cups which I guess isnt a bad idea and is a lot safer. Music- This is the big let down for me, they just werent playing anything you could dance to and people were just stood around on the ... more

I went here on a Monday night so bear this in mind when reading this review. Monday madness- I bought tickets for this online which cost £2.50 each and then a £1 service charge (abit cheaky), included in this we got a que jump and two free drinks per person, the drinks however had to be vodka and redbull. When I looked online there was promises of thinks such as free candy, pinball machines and things that were not what you would expect hence the name monday madness, I stayed until about 1am and didnt see any sign of this. The night started at 10pm and ended at 2.30am so thats four and a half hours which for a Monday is ok I suppose. Drinks- This ... Read the complete review

The term 'indie' may be extremely vague over here in 2010 but i think one can be quite sure that the music that you hear in 5th avenue is not indie. Dubstep and house dominate the night if anything though there is always a hefty chunk of rock (as in rage against the machine, white stripes etc) in there, which always gets the best response from the crowd. The club has two floors and one dancefloor, which is always very much in full swing by about 11pm. The 1st floor is not so much a floor because most of it is a balcony surrounding and overlooking the dancefloor. The drinks have risen in price over time I believe and are probably unjustified when compared to ... Read the complete review

I have been frequenting 5th avenue for nearly 5 years and have watched this club transform unfortunately somewhat for the worst over the years. 5th avenue is a nightclub in central Manchester primarily catering for students and people in their early twenties specialising in Indie music. In terms of the club itself you can always guaranteed a full house which can be attributed to the ridiculously cheap drinks(depending on the night can be as little as 80p and usually are never more than £2.00 a double spirit and mixer). Their are a range of nights offered through the week however the music as whole is pretty consistently based with a foundation of ... Read the complete review

5th av is a good night out, but I went last night (birthday night out) and had my hat confiscated. No worries, I thought, I'l just collect it at the end of the night. When I politely asked for my hat back at the end of the night, the lady went mental and called her big boy bouncers down, who for no reason whatsoever bodyslammed me then dragged me up the stairs. When a friend of mine questioned this treatment, he was dragged around the back of the club and smacked so hard he's still got blood dripping down his face. Then they stole my phone. So good club, poor doorstaff, very very poor.
