Anglers Rest, Bamford, Derbyshire: ... Angler s Rest is one of three public houses/restaurants in the little picturesque village of Bamford, in an area of Derbyshire s Peak District National Park known as the High Peak. I visited the Angler s Rest in Bamford recently for Sunday Lunch, although I must confess that this was not actually my first choice of venue. I had intended to visit a place called the Yorkshire Bridge, which is a popular place and h...

micksheff Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn ( Castleton)
... was a time when I was growing up when my family suddenly became a little bit more affluent. My dad had worked all of his life in the Sheffield steelworks and had been made unemployed. That was a difficult time but just when things were starting to look grim he got another job. This job came with a company car and he had a good boss. One of the perks of this job was that was that he was allowed to take his wife and kids (my brother and myself) out for a meal every week, as long as the total bill did not exceed £60. For the next couple of years my mother never had to cook another Sunday Lunch. Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, located in the Derbyshire town of Castleto...

... : Alright-y, you know the score by now - long review, might ramble a bit... if there isn t a swear-y there s likely to be something else you might find offensive. By reading on you waive your right to bitch about it. On a blazing hot Saturday morning, while the other half was asleep, I decided that we should partake in a spot of lunch and so popped onto a trusty reservation website to peruse what offers were available on the many (but not all) restaurants they had listed. After a bit of hmm-ing and haw-ing I decided we d be heading to the West End part of Sauchiehall Street (as opposed to the City Centre part, for you non-Glasgow folk) to investigate The Dra...

Dave Ship Inn
... the day 6 of us called in for lunch the manageress (I assume she was) seemed very touchy. Tried to order 2 courses, special price, intending starter for my partner and main course for me. Was told this couldn t be done and would have to pay for starter as a main course which we had to accept. As a result another lady in our group cancelled her order in protest so the pub lost out. If I had just ordered it withou saying who it was for then I m convinced iit would have been forthcoming. She had a very unfortunate attitude and I noticed a similar attitude to other clients. If I go there again it will be to place the order without saying who is going to eat it. I take the...
