      Give it a go!

Deep in the heart of Merchant City in the city centre of Glasgow lies Bar 91 so named as it resides at 91 Candleriggs, Glasgow. This is a fabulously relaxed Bar and I almost don't want to tell anyone about it as I love it the way it is but here goes.

With floor to ceiling windows which open onto the street in the summer months this is a light and airy bar with high ceilings. You walk in to a welcoming room with a large banquette that runs the whole side of the bar on the left hand side with tables and the bar is in the top right. Tables are dotted around the bar and a high table and stools jut out from one of the centre pillars, Bar 91 is nice and roomy and you never feel like you are on top of anyone else. The great thing about this bar is that it is not pretentious in any way, it is cool, laid back and totally relaxed from the service to the atmosphere. The clientele are very mixed and that is the beauty of it with such a mix of people of all ages and walks of life the bar has a great atmosphere and buzz about it. It has a couple of flat screen TVs which are carefully hidden apart from on certain occasions like international football or such like.

The atmosphere in the bar is the same both day and night and I like the fact that it doesn't change that much, at weekend they quite often have a dj but it adds to the buzz rather than overrides it. During the day they serve lunches and I have to say probably the best burgers in Glasgow!

The food menu is excellent with a nice range of homemade style dishes, burgers, salads and always a good selection of specials. The burgers are fabulous, homemade beef patties with your choice of topping and mayo (the blue cheese or Cajun are fab). Everything comes with a fabulous fresh salad that isn't just a couple of bits of limp lettuce but a tasty spread. The pasta is also fab and there are good options for vegetarians as well. Desserts are also excellent and my personal fave is the heated caramel shortcake with ice cream - yum yum yum.

You get a good range of drinks on offer and approximately 10 - 15 wines to choose from, they will also make up cocktails.

Lunch for a couple of courses each and a bottle of wine will costs in the region of £30 - £35 between two of you.

You are never rushed, never hassled it is just the perfect place to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a drink and meet friends. Just sit back and relax! Cheers!
