Situated in Botanic, the centre of studentland, this bar is a nice surprise. Unusually for the area it attracts a diverse crowd and so isn't pigeonholed as a student bar. Attached to the Crescent Townhouse Hotel, the bar has been established for about 12 years now. Spacious inside, the wood panelled interior gives the space a warm feel. The long mirror backed bar goes down one side of the space and the rest is roughly divided into three seating sections. There are spacious snugs, some high tables with stools and armchairs for lounging in, it would be rare to not find a seat though you may have to stand for a while at the weekends. The mixed crowd ... Bar Twelve is part of what used to be the Regency Hotel. It’s now a three-part complex with a restaurant called “Metro Brasserie” and a hotel “Crescent Townhouse”. It’s situated just off Botanic Avenue, in Lower Crescent in Belfast’s busy pub area. It’s one of those bars where the majority of people who frequent it at night are only stopping in to meet people, or nip in for a quick pint before nipping off somewhere else.
