If you are feeling the pinch recently due to the international economic downturn you may have been unable to spend as much cash as you would have liked on the finer things in life. By the finer things in life I mean going out and getting a really good dinner. Quite a number of high end eateries are losing out of late and that's where Credit Crunch busting Crown Carveries comes in.

Crown Carveries main selling point is their amazing £3.50 carvery, yes you heard that right - a £3.50 carvery. For this you might expect the worst possible food you could imagine, but you couldn't be further from the truth. Our local Crown carvery on the Isle of Wight always has a great range of food.

For a start when you hand in your meal ticket you get the choice of Yorkshire and stuffing, or both. You can then choose a mixture of all three meats (Turkey, Gammon or Beef) or any individual meat. You then take your plate and mound it up with your seasonal veg. Then theres the obligatory roast potatoes and a choice of mint sauce and horseradish.

OK so whats the food like for £3.50? Well pretty good actually. I've never felt that the food has been bad and inedible ever, in fact I've paid a lot more for worse roast dinners art other pubs and restaurants in the past. The only problem I've encountered is the server being a bit mean (Oliver's 'Please Sir, Can I have some more?' springs to mind). Sometimes the roast potatoes have been a little burnt as well.

So what the catch then adambrown400? Well, I can't see one. Even the drinks are pretty cheap - £1.69 for a pint of I.PA which is insanely cheaper than the near £3 you can pay at other places. The veggie options are a bit poor, but then why go to a carvery if you're a veggie anyway?

In all Crown Carveries are an excellent money saver in these harsh times. You can treat the family (2 adults and 2 kids) for £14 - amazing!

Summary: Great venue
