with reference to historywitch who has written a very nasty review about the dog and pheasant, i have been going to this very beautiful pub for many years and eat in there very often, i can not believe that these people have written such a nasty review im gob smacked, the pub is situated in very beautiful country side, and has an excellent beer garden although there are not really and playthings for the children but at the end ofthe day it is a pub,i notice they have said the pub is very dark and dingy on a hot summers day did they acctually take there sunglasses of when inside, and the furniture smelt of wet dogs , well if u can find a wet dog in this pub in the middle of summer , then so be it, but as dogs are not allowed in when food is being served i cant see how this is possible, the staff are all polite friendly and well mannered, the landlady cooks in the kitchen and the food is superb, plates may not be empty because of the ample portions which are served , when my family visit we quite often have a sunday lunch which once again is superb, and on a hot summers day u expect to wait some time, on a sunday lunch they can do up to and over 200covers this also applies during the week, i have never heard anything so ridiculous, and as for decoration the pub is decorated at least once a year like i said previous did they actually take off there sunglasses, i also note these people had an excellent meal in the local white hart have they not seen the reviews in the local newspaper, or even checked the scores on the doors which the white hart has none, and the dog and pheasant has 3 funny that for such an awful pub, i can tell u the white hart is the last place on the island if you want to eat, or sorry if u like slumming it then there we go , so visit for yourself a lovelly country pub .......
