I've been to The Elbow Room a few times with mates just to chill out with the drinks and pool during the week, which it's great for and students are welcomed even though it's not necessarily a student venue. But they were hosting a Maccabees afterparty the other weekend which I thought I'd check out. Was a mint night with the live bands and the Maccabees Djing. The staff were a right laugh - one of the barmen even jumped on the decks for a while. It was a really good atmosphere and the people that were in there were totally chilled out and only interested in a good night - where as the clientele on Call Lane can often just be after drinking too much, throwing a few punches and causing trouble. I love the fact that I can go to the elbow room just to chill and I can go there to party.
Don't eat here... Have been twice: The 1st time the burgers took an hour and arrived completely uncooked. The 2nd time (Which was on invitation from management because of the 1st time) all ten of us were ill with food poisoning!Thank you Elbow Rooms for the experience!
The Elbow Rooms in Leeds is situated next to the Fruit Cupboard near Dyson Chambers.
Elbow Rooms is technically a pool hall/pub, however that said it makes a fantastic night club! Whether you are just after something good to eat in the middle of the day, a few pints or cocktails and some american Pool or your up for clubbing the night away with some of the best DJs/performers then this pub/club is exactly what you need. There are two floors with a bar each, and even a games rooms with varied arcade machines, pool tables are on both floors towards the back of the club.
The atmosphere is very relaxed during the day, you can expect to find students and office workers playing pool and eating lunch all whilst chilled out tunes are rolling. Fridays and Saturday nights are usually booked nights like the Sugar Beat Club, which has fantastic DJs. I've been going here regularly for a while now, I've seen Shaun Ryder and Bez perform, brilliant, Lo Fidelity Allstars, Cash Money, and many other class acts.
Elbow Rooms really fills up on Saturday and Friday nights, there is plenty of room to embarass your self trying to break dance and equally enough sofa's to chill out on. The decor is very retro and there are many TV screens to watch MTV on, or when A DJ performs to watch what he/she is doing. Also there is no dress code other than you won't get in if your wearing Chav wear (e.g tracky tops, burberry), but who wants Chavs spoiling a good night out.
The Elbow Rooms also throws parties for New Year, last New Year was fantastic, they had stilt walkers handing out drinks (free of course!), fire breathers and dancers and a fantastic set of top tunes to jump about too. One thing the Elbow Rooms isn't is a meat market, if you want pull you may aswell go so where more cheesy like, SpringBok or Walkabout because poeple go to the Elbow Rooms for good music and a good laugh!
