Fat Cats is a cafe by day, bar by night. It's on Greyfriars Road in Cardiff opposite the New Theatre and in a small line of bars. It's a far more classier affair than it's neighbours Varsity and LLoyds Bar and so makes a nice little pit stop on a night out or for a quick lunch during the day.

By day, it is a nice laid back cafe bar with sofas and booths to sit in. The lunch menu is fairly reasonable in price and the food is good. It is quite basic as in sandwiches and wraps but they are very good quality. It's a nice place to go for a quiet drink or a lunch time catch up.

By night, it becomes a lot more popular and there are usually bouncers on the door. After a certain time you pay to get in and some people stay there for the evening but it is more of a stop off on your way somewhere else.

By night it gets very crowded and if you are lucky enough to get one of the sofas you do not move for fear of losing it! The bar is always difficult to get to despite it's being quite long but staff are efficient and serve you quickly.

Drinks are quite pricey but if you are looking for cheap drinks Varsity and Llyods bar are next door and you can pop in there for a pint and a black eye if you'd rather! Personally, I think it's worth paying a bit more for a nice atmosphere.

The music gets turned up after 9pm and the lights are turned down and it really is a nice place to be. The decor is quite funky but not tacky and there is a nice mix of people.

It's a nice place to put on your list on a Saturday night out!
