Advantages: location, location, location
Disadvantages: always too busy because of its prime location
The Fishbowl, East Street
Self-consciously trendy, the Fishbowl is one of the most disappointing of the Zel chain, lacking the individuality that mark many of the other out. However, it's central, near-prom location and pre-club reputation demand inclusion. Spread over two floors, the Fishbowl is imaginatively decorated with pebbles from the beach and all manner of aquatic paraphernalia adorn the walls. The Fishbowl used to be called the Greyhound, and was known as that for probably 200 years. And while it was a shame to banish the name, it was no loss to be rid of the nicotine-stained soaks who used to frequent the place. Anyway, they would never have tolerated the regular DJ or the ubiquitous bouncer. It gets busy, very busy, at the weekends before the clubs kick in but during the day or on quiet evening this is a pleasant watering hole. On a nice day you can sit outside and watch the world go by.
