      A great local bar

Located slightly outside of the town centre and more towards South Croydon lies this little gem of a bar. Monday - Thursday they offer 20% off your bar bill - just because. Sadly not too many people seem to take advantage of this mid-week offer, however, at weekends trade seems to pick up a bit more. Members of CAMRA get 20% at all times on their beer and ale orders. The drinks on offer are not your run of the mill bar drinks. Here they take pride in their selection of beverages available, and you will not see Fosters etc on tap. Instead they have linked up with breweries to offer ales and different beers. So if you like your beer or ale, this is a great place to try new things. That's not to say non-beer/ale lovers will be unhappy here. The wine selection is thorough and carefully thought out, and the range of spirits is impressive, offering strange flavours not seen in other bars. And cocktail are available for those who want them. Beers start at about £2.80 and wines from about £3 per glass, and sprits from £2 per measure. The bar snacks are not your usual run of the mill McCoy crisps either. No, no. Here they offer things like wasabi nuts, mini sausages, and sesame peanuts just to name a couple. All under £1.95 per snack, which is a portion adequate for two people to share happily. The seating is varied, from leather sofas, to wooden stools, but offers a very comfortable atmosphere. the main bar is upstairs, however, there is an area downstairs that can be hired out (for free) for up to about 50 guests. The background music is as varied as the drinks menu. With a touch of RnB, old school soul, indie music, folk music - you name it, you'll probably hear it here. The staff are very friendly, and I wouldn't feel uncomfortable going in here as a lone female to wait for friends to arrive. The staff are obviously passionate about their drinks and very knowledgeable, especially about the beer and ales available. But that's not to say this is an old man's pub at all. It attracts a young crowd of 20 and 30 something's. Offering beer and wine tasting evenings during the summer months, and regularly changing their drinks available. The toilets are small, but always clean, with plenty of tissue and hand soap available, and the locks always working!
