Its a very well kept pub with a local feel about it but also a dark story behind it from 1968..... Well basically Ted Jones was a bit of a player, his local was The Hare and The Hare was known as the Nurses Pub as a lot of nurses used to drink there. Ted wasn't a one women man, he used to have a lot of women on the go, and he liked his nurses. However his fun of playing the field came to an end one cold night in October 1968, the story goes he was suppose to meet one of the nurses down by the pond near the hospital, problem was he never returned alive. If you like an old pub in new surroundings, then The Hare pub in Harlow has got to be a strong contender. It was built in the 16th or 17th century and by the wonky roof and uneven exterior walls, you can tell that this is a pub with years of experience. Inside, the bar has an almost rural feel with many farming implements on show and the dark decor hints at days gone by. A good selection of beers and ales are matched with good pub food. For those wanting a quieter drink, the Snug offers an open fire and cosy leather sofas to relax into. The flagstone floors and low beams add to the ambience.
