Thikning about it, I have drank or ate in around nine different Scream pubs across the UK over the last 10 years and I'm glad they are still around when many of the other student type chain pubs have disappeared. I have fond memories of the scream bars and fortunately in Leicester we still have four of them to enjoy!

Things the Scream Pubs used to so which they no longer do are:
cheap meals- especially the '3 items for £2' where you picked three food items from a list on the menu (ie chips, beans and sausage or chips, beans and chicken nuggets) for £2- if you asked the Bar Manager nicely he would even sell you bacon egg and chips although it wasn't on the menu), now their menu is more £5-£8 a plate for a curry or a greek minted lamb burger or something more grown up.

Vodka Slush- slush puppies with Vodka are also sadly missed. I drank so many of these one summer I can no longer drink Slush Puppie type drinks without getting a tickly cough (oh, the student shame).

They don't do as many promotions as they used to (I used to have a Squeaky yellow duck earned by drinking 4 bottles of reef...) but I haven't seen any bar promotions of free stuff advertised for a long time. I hope they aren't going downhill, but the past dozen times i've been to a Scream pub, they just aren't the same little balls of fun that they used to be.

Also, I have been quite disappointed by the Scream bars in leicester in that the toilets are always quite poor- there is NEVER any toilet roll in the ladies and the doors dont have locks etc so I get the impression they are neglecting their maintenance. I emailed some comments about one local scream pub and had an acknowledgement email but the next time I visited the same bar, there was still no toilet roll in any of the girls toilets or locks on the doors!
