I the old days before nappies, milk and sick, we used to go to Wetherspoons quite often on a weekend, mainly for lunch. This review is about Wetherspoons in general, as we have frequented quite a few all over the country.

The food is generally of a pretty mediocre quality. It tends to be of the reheated school of cookery. However, the taste is not bad. It isn't anything spectacular but it is still pretty good. The main draw about the food is the price. Mains are about £5 or £6 and the menu is pretty extensive so there is lots to choose from. Depending on the particular establishment, you can also get two meals for between £6 and £8. What a bargain! The menu for this offer is more limited and unfortunately doesn't often change. Another great food deal is the burger and beer for a fiver. They do other drinks, including wine and soft drinks in this offer too.

A real treat about Wetherspoons is that they serve lots of different real ales. So often these days it is just beer out of a pump not a barrel. Hooray for Wetherspoons and their support of real ale. YUM!

The establishments are quite individual, despite being part of a chain, and often have local historical photos and information on the walls, which is really interesting and shows they make an effort to fit into the area.

Ok it is a chain and the quality of the food isn't great but it is really good value for money and I like it!
