Advantages: Cheap drink offers

Disadvantages: Can attract a dodgy crowd

Wetherspoons seems to pretty similar and attracts the same sorts of crowd no matter which one you go to throughout the UK! I've been to a couple in London and Newcastle but the one I would be the most familiar with is the one in Belfast which opened in October 2000 called 'The Bridge House.'

The Bridge House is quite a large bar situated on Bedford Street, just down the road from the 'Golden Mile' of Dublin road with some other bars and restaurants. Like all other wetherspoons it has the usual cheap drinks offers like Fosters and Stella on offer or double vodkas/gin etc for the price of a normal one. They used to do double vodka and redbull offers but i believe they had to stop these due to too many fights kicking off!

The food is cheap but pretty terrible - you get what you pay for! It's usually microwave stuff but it can do the job if you're on an all day drinking session and just want something to line your stomach a bit! There are food and drink offers available such as a burger and chips and a drink for £2.99 which is pretty good value considering it's hard to get a pint anywhere in Belfast for less than £3.00!

The Belfast wetherspoons does tend to attract the same sort of rough crowd that some of the other wetherspoons attracts because of its cheapness! It's fine if you are out for daytime drinking - I used to go a fair bit as a student for a couple of afternoon pints which would turn into an all day session but it is probably advisable to move on somewhere else once it gets to early evening and the nighttime crowd arrive or before the other groups who have been there all day begin to get a bit rowdy! I have seen a couple of fights break out and I have ventured in a couple of times at night time in the past and it has always been ok as long as you keep yourself to yourself.

Overall I'd say it's fine for a few cheap afternoon/early evening pints but just keep your wits about you a bit if you plan to stay on any later - particularly on a Friday or Saturday night. There are plenty of other nicer places nearby where you can move on to afterwards.

Summary: Good for cheap drink

Good review - and I agree with most of it - the food is disgusting and the cheap drinks are a recipe for disaster. I avoid them like the plague.
