Advantages: great value

Disadvantages: some of the unhappier staff need to be motivated

I am very lucky to have a variety of pubs nearby to where i live.
We have a massive choice here and Wetherspoons is always the first choice both before a night out on the town and for a daytime drink in the beer garden.

From regularly going out in this area since my teens, its popularity hasnt changed much. It is the busiest pub in the town and is always packed out on Thursday - Saturday nights especially.

My local wetherspoons is placed around the shopping area and other pub/club nightlife, yet it brings in more customers than the competitors. Don't get me wrong, the competitors are busy on the peak weekend nights too, but young people usually = students = poor, so the cheapest option wins!

The reason i choose wetherspoons is because of the very reasonable prices of drinks, and being a smoker, during the winter months i can go to the outdoor area with heated lamps.
The seating is sufficient enough outdoors as well as indoors. Despite its popularity, i rarely go without a seat.

They also do very good special offers on different nights/days of the week from cocktails, beers, doubles, to the food.
They are very consistent with their special offer prices, and you know which days to go in, to take advantage of the special offer of your choice!

The food is very reasonably priced. You can get egg, chips, and beans for £2.99
:)
They do curry nights & a range of other specials which may vary pub to pub.

A bottle of Blossom Hill White Zinfandel is £4.99
I have no doubt in a supermarket you may get it a little bit cheaper but not by much. And in Threshers the same bottle is £5.99!

I have read some other reviews who have made negative comments about the decor in wetherspoons. I can't say i have noticed in my local to be honest (at their prices who really would!) But i will have a good look next time i am in.

I have had mixed experiences with the bar staff.
I'm not sure how well they are paid or motivated as i have found some of the members of staff to be a bit hostile or moody, which is understandable as the job is not for everyone (i certainly havent enjoyed bar jobs in the past, hence leaving and never going back!)
Its just a shame when a person doesn't enjoy their job it does show and can reflect on the customers experience, which is a shame for the better members of the team.

I have found the door security staff friendly & good natured which is always nice.

Summary: good
