Advantages: Clean, 1/2 pint £1.50, serve a range of food, reasonable prices

Disadvantages: Still a pub with slightly average food

Most pubs in central London tend to be dirty, run down and over priced. On the other hand I have been to several JD Wetgerspoon pubs and in general they seem to maintain a higher standard than the average pub.

First of all while the interior decoration may not be up to the highest standards, the wetherspoon pubs are generally clean, empty glasses are cleared regularly and there seems to be enough staff employed. The greatest test for cleanliness is to visit the pub toilets. Most wetherspoons seem to have clean toilets.

With regard to the range of drinks and menu, Wetherspoons serves a range of food at reasonable prices and often have special offers. If I'm hungry I can get a burger with fries and a drink for around £6. The food while not poor is perhaps average quality, what one can expect from a pub however in comparison to eating at Prett, a hot meal at Wetherspoon offers much better value for money.

Unlike other London pubs, Wetherspoon's prices are reasonable. Half a pint of beer is approx £1.50 while most pubs are £1.80-£2.

To sum things up, the average pub in London is dirty with over inflated prices. For this reason I always prefer a Wetherspoon pub.
