Wetherspoons is a national pub chain that has a mixed reception in many towns and cities around the UK. I say mixed because of its lax attitude to policing the nutters that frequent their bars for cheap booze and then go on the rampage.

There are quite a few good things about Spoons. The food is incredibly cheap and not too bad in quality. There are quite a few meals that are available for £2.99 as well which means that you can fill up with a pint and a drink for less than a fiver.

The quality of the food also depends on which Spoons you visit, and what time of the day as well. If you go at a busy time or later at night the quality seems to drop off a bit, which is a shame. But then I suppose you get what you pay for.

The majority of Wetherspoons pubs are renovated public buildings and have been tastefully redecorated into public houses. I would like to see some of the pubs done up a little as some of them that I have visited around the country are a little sticky and ricketey.

I suppose the main reason to champion, or nor champion Spoons is the price of the drinks. It just goes to show that some pubs are royally ripping people off for charging them well over three pounds for a pint, when Spoons can offer a 99p pint. In fact quite a number of drinks are cheap, or should I say more reasonable than other pubs.

I go to Spoons on the I.O.W nearly every week and get some cheap drink and play on the sticky quiz machine. While not at the bottom of the pile, Spoons does attract its fair share of problems but in these credit crunching days it well worth making a visit.

Summary: Cheap Cheap Cheap and Sticky

I think their quality depends on the manager in place - some are better than others

Good job we go there later in the evening, as it's just too packed around 7 or 8 :)
