Used to like going to this pub, always had good pub food. Went along last night (mothering sunday) for the first time in ages and was very dissappointed. The service was appalling, the waiting staff couldn't care less, verging on rude. The standard of food has gone done. My burger had abviously been cooked for a very long time as it was very very dry, the chips were cold and the salad all there was of it was wilting. Quite a few people complained when we were in that there food was under cooked or the veg was missing! Not a nice way to spend mothering sunday. We will never be back. AVOID

I thought it would be nothing out of the ordinary but quite the opposite was true. I ordered Bangers and mash and had three sausages, a huge yorkshire pudding which fitted on the large plate, gravy, peas and mashed potato. Believe me it was HUGE and the quality was not compromised. I was very pleased and will certainly come again. The male waiter was attentive and smart and we were well looked after. I will certainly be going ... Read the complete review

We arrived at about 19:30 when there seemed to be plently of space - to be told by the waitress that she was too busy to serve any one else in the non smoking section, and anyway no children are allowed in the restaurant after 22:00 so we were asked to leave. There was group of locals at the other one table that was occupied in the non smoking half of the restaurant (there appeared to be at least three tables free) - and they could not ... The Justinlees Inn in Dalkeith, Midlothian is one of the best family pubs I have been to in a while. I have been a patron of this pub/restaurant for many years and it has gone through a few changes in that time. I believe that it has now got it right. The conservatory area is perfect for taking children with you when you want to eat. There is no smoking in this area and there are plenty of toys for the kids. Fodd is of a very high standard, although the prices are very competitive. The Children's Menu has a good selection alson. Staff are very friendly and service is very quick. They have a wide selection of real ales and beers, asweel as a good wine list. Again ... Read the complete review
