Disadvantages: right at the top of that big old hill
The Miller's Arms
The Miller's Arms was resurrected a few years back as the Sir Loyne of Beefe. At the time, when the nation was in the depths of the BSE crisis, the name brought nothing but bad karma but now its the Miller's Arms doing what it does best: being a friendly, honest boozer. The pub is comfortable and friendly and also very reasonably priced. Nothing special, but then what else does one need? The new name (which I believe was the old name) reflects the fact that there used to be windmills up on the top of the hill, when the whole of Hanover and indeed Brighton was farmland. But there is recompense for the climb. Not only is the air cleaner but the terrace at the Miller's offers a unique view over the town. No other pub offers such a panorama over Brighton. On a summer's evening, when the sun is going down and a gentle breeze coming off the sea there are few place more charming. Pity the poor folks dodging the stag and hen parties on the Prom. The Miller's offers all the benfits of the seaside life and none of the bother. And because its at the top of the hill it never gets too busy.
