My partner has ranted and raved about how nice and homely this place is for some time and one weekend before Xmas we had no children and decided to call in for a break from the Christmas shopping. You enter the bar and its like walking into one big long living room. There are fireplaces and couches dotted all over the place. In front of the couches are coffee tables with magazines and daily newspapers, instantly you feel at home. The bar area is not very wide but it goes back some twenty metres. We sat at a table and had a nice bottle of red (wide selection of Beer also available) and a nice meal. The food I believe to be home made was nice and very reasonably priced. The only trouble afterwards was that I felt like sleeping in front of the open fire. Wind Street where the bar is situated used to be a street full of wine merchant when Swansea had a port to talk of. The first traceable point where the ?no sign wine bar? is from the 1690?s in local papers. Every bar had to be identified by a sign for some reason a sign was not allocated from day one and hence the bar has always been the ?no sign wine bar?. Dylan Thomas used to frequent and his short story ?The followers? makes reference to the bar. The bar has had rave revues in the observer and the Independent and such local paper as the Evening Post and the Western Mail and was nominated as the pub with the best drinks selection in Wales and the South West in 2001. It a pub that the locals use that you would be quite happy to walk into on your own unlike many of the other pubs in Wind Street. A great place with a great atmosphere and friendly bar staff ? visit and enjoy.
