Advantages: Relaxed atmosphere, great crowd, good selection of food and drink

Disadvantages: No outdoor area

O Bar is part of a small chain of bars in Leicester and Loughborough and is a great place to base a night out. Many a time my friends and I have spent an enjoyable night in its surroundings. It's located on the Braunstone Gate area of town, so you get a fair mix of people, with a slant to wards the student and too-cool-for-school crowd. The atmosphere could be described as hectic but relaxed during the weekend evenings, with downstairs getting particularly crowded at times. Upstairs is a bit more relaxed as there's no bar there. There are plenty of sofas and armchairs to help you sit back and relax, although this isn't the most practical seating when it's busy and the music is turned up as you can't get close enough to people to hear what they're saying!

The decor is eclectic and retro, with quirky paintings and visuals (my favourites are the montages of matchbooks and beer mats - mesmerising when you've had a few too many).

The drink selection is great, with a wide choice of bottled and draught beers, spirits and cocktails. Prices, from what I can tell are reasonable and there are also a variety of promotions at different times of the week. Food is served during the day and what I've sampled is decent, if pretty standard fare.

There's no beer garden of other outside area, which is a shame, but otherwise O Bar is a staple of our weekend trips out for a drink with friends -well worth a visit if you fancy something a little different to you're normal rent-a-wine bar.

Summary: The place to go for laid back retro shenenegans
