“ Fleet Street. Formerly the "147 Club" - a pool/snooker hall. „
The One4 formally known as the 147 club is a pool and snooker hall located on the somewhat eerie Fleet Street in Liverpool. I have frequented this place for over 10 years now and to be honest nothing has changed much in that time other than an apparent halfhearted lick of paint. The place has an air of the underworld and seedy going's on of gangster plotting. Nothing could be far from the truth. Yeah, somewhat rundown and deathly quiet during the day it becomes a hive of activity in the evening's especially Friday and Saturday night. The One4 is seen as the 'kick off' point for an evening out, with cheap beer on offer, a loaded duke box and pool. This place is unique, it doesn’t fall into any kind of 'category' as you will see a mix of all types of people - heavy metal fans, clubbers, scallies, serious snooker players all mixing together happy as Larry. I have never in all the time being in the place seen any trouble. Its quite a large place with something like 14 pool tables and the same again in snooker tables. There are also 2 large TV screens, which are popular when the football is on. A large bar with friendly staff and cheap prices - you cannot complain about this. However, the toilet facilities can only be compared to those on the last day of the Glastonbury festival and there is a certain 'tackiness' underfoot in the bar area. I do like this place, it unpretentious mellow and at the heart of Liverpool’s nightlife district. If you are unfamiliar with the One4, its certainly worth a look. Don’t be fooled by your first impression as you walk in through the doors as this is a genuine friendly place.
