Advantages: Opens late on sundays, Nice quite pub during the day
Disadvantages: Food (avoid the chicken wings)
Since writing my review of the font I found this 4 year old pub crawl review of 5 pubs and I’ve decided to update the reviews for how the pub has changed. I’ve lived in Brighton all my life and I think this would be a great service.
O’Neil’s has also changed management since the last review however I think it got a way with it. It’s an O’Neil’s and the fore theirs not much else to say about it. Like all O’Neil pubs it has slightly cheaper beer never tastes quite right but gets away with it through the use of fake Guinness memorabilia. The staff change every five seconds (I don’t know what Michel and Buttler do to their staff to drive them out of O’Neil’s pubs but the staff always seem to be new in every O’Neil’s pub I’ve ever been in).
The pub opens late on Sundays, no idea if that will change when the new licences come in next week. Music is always poor, but it can quite often be a nice place to watch the rugby or football.
The food has always been very bad there but on a good note its right next to a great sandwich shop, if you don’t mind wolfing down a dam fine sandwich in the street then you can always eat just outside.
It does have an occasional habit of filling with stag or hen do’s as most pubs in Brighton but they seem to leave quickly and can be heard from the street, thus easily avoided.
Summary: Its an O'Neils they are all the same

- 17/11/05 Nice review. Most people read these reviews independantly of the others in the category, so feel free to repeat any details you might think aren't needed because someone has already said it. We don't have any O'Niells bars down here, but your review gave me a good impression of what I might expect to find were we to get one. |
