Advantages: Quite large, music not too loud / quiet

Disadvantages: Ricky Martin playing, not a good selection of bitter, no pool table (?)

This is the second pub in a series opinions telling of my short pub crawl around 5
Brighton pubs / bars. If you wish to read the whole series please read my opinion on
the Font and Firkin first.
********************************************

After leaving the Font and Firkin we saw O'Neils. It was playing loud Ricky Martin
when we entered and all of the time we were in there the music was either Modern Spanish, 70's Spanish (La Bamba etc.) or Irish music. It sounds like a strange selection but they went well together.

This pub is quite large, with the bar spanning 2/3 of the pub. There are various classic Guinness ads decorating the walls. The ceilings were very high and very decorated indicating that it was once one posh house. The general atmosphere was good and I would imagine the perfect venue for a group of drunken Irishmen, or a group of any
drunken race for that matter.

They didn't have any bitter on (apparently) so my mate had to get a Guinness (I'm not
sure how this is any different, but according to him is does).
Prices: Guinness extra cold (pint) £2.55
JD & coke £2.45.

The tables seemed to be mostly square, I'm not sure that this matters, but you can only
fit so many people round a square table. The barman wasn't as friendly as you might have expected, he seemed to be trying to rush us to order our drinks even though there was hardly anyone in there.

Games in the pub were limited, just a who wants to be a millionaire quiz machine (I don't remember there being an upstairs).

We drank up and headed off to the next pub, The Cricketers. Please rate this opinion and move on the Cricketers opinion :o)
