Disadvantages: staff very unhelpful at times

The oxon priory formanly known as The hungry Horse is in Shrewsbury about 3 miles away from the hospital. It is the home of the 16 inch plate!!!!
We have come here on many occasions and have also had our Christmas lunch here.
We recently ate here and although we've eaten here before and absolutely loved the place and highly recommended it on this occasion the same cannot be said very unfortunately although I do believe that it has just come under new management.

It whole resturant has just been renovated to a high standard and looks very modern while keeping it original charm, there are a lot of tables and sometimes you feel like your eating on top of another family/couple but overall there are tables to suit all, there is a area by the bar with sofa's etc which I imagine are for people not eating in.

The menu is quite extensive and serves a wide range of foods although I don't see many vegetarian meals on there, they also have decicated food nights such as curry nights etc but we have never had these so can only comment on the overall.

I have always found the prices fair and great for what you get my usual order is the sirloin steak meal which set's me back about £9 which is great,it cost myself £30 to feed 4 incl starters, mains and puds!!
The childrens menu is great and comes in a range of size's aswell they can pick their own veg and the drink is included.Overall the kids menu is very good value at £3.99 for a large kids meal and pud!!

On our recent visit we were expecting the same high quality and service that we have always had but sadly not the bad experience started nearly as soon as we entered!
We found a table easily considering it was around 7 at night and quickly decided to look at the menu and order asap, so taking the table number I went off to order while trying to pay they decided the machines weren't working and I ended up trying to place my order three times (no fault to the Oxon as systems always fail) anyway finally sorting that I returned to the table and waited....and waited. After half an hour our starter came out only for us to discover that half of it was missing, failing epically to actually tell someone about this problem as no one would stop to listen we gave up and decided to eat it anyway, as the main courses were being delivered I made a point of bringing up the starter issues which in return I was blanked.

The whole eating experience we found to be quite poor because even though the food was lovely the staff were very rude and unhelpful although this could be a one off problem due to the time of day etc.
I will visit again as we as a family do love this restaurant im just hoping it's better next time.
I did contact the manager but as of yet have still not received a reply.

Summary: great place to eat but the staff are a another thing
