With its extremely large student population Lancaster very much caters for the student tastes. Cheap drinks and lots of offers.... Especially during the week. Even on a weekend you are not likely to pay more than £3 for a drink. Some of my favourite pubs include: Fryer & Firkin- Inside an old church at the bottom end of town. Plays chart music and drinks are super cheap (a round for four people comes in under £10) Varsity- Chain pub, plenty places to sit and stand. For a small city, Lancaster has a lot of pubs. Having said that, they in no way appear to dominate the town or detract from the many fantastic shops. Among my favourites are the Blue Anchor and Paddy Mulligans. Both of these are very popular with both students and locals alike and have great atmospheres at all times. The best thing about them is that they're obviously not part of some huge chain, run by someone who's never visited half of their outlets. The Blue Anchor and Paddys are both locals, like pubs used to be in the good old days!!
