Advantages: Revolution, Walkabout, Varsity, Fryer & Firkin, Bentleys

Disadvantages: Cuba ... can be extremely quiet on some nights

With its extremely large student population Lancaster very much caters for the student tastes. Cheap drinks and lots of offers.... Especially during the week. Even on a weekend you are not likely to pay more than £3 for a drink.

Some of my favourite pubs include:

Fryer & Firkin- Inside an old church at the bottom end of town. Plays chart music and drinks are super cheap (a round for four people comes in under £10)

Varsity- Chain pub, plenty places to sit and stand. More a place to start the night ut lots of drinks offers (two bottles for £5 etc)

Bentleys- Good for cocktails, quite a large pub, can dance. One of the places that does get busy! Jug of cocktail for £9.

Walkabout - Chain bar. In my opinion the best bar in the chain. Very large bar, round of four drink for around £11. Great for dancing however probably one of the only places in the town I have ever seen rammed full!

Revolution- Part of the vodka chain bar. £2 entry after 11 however open until 3am on weekends. Places to dance plays chart music

Avoid Cuba, its dirty dingy and full of characters!!

For a small city there are a lot of pubs!! The pubs are quite close together so you won't have far to walk between bars.

There are a few of clubs " Elements" which was formally Liquid and Toast. You also have the likes of Revolution and Walkabout staying open until 3am on a weekend! Clubbing isn't great Toast and Elements are slightly rough in my opinion and you would be better off going to Revolution or Walkabout until closing time.

Also there are a lot of takeaways open until the early hours meaning you have plenty of choice whether it be kebab, pizza... chips... or all three if you are feeling hungry!!

It's not the best night out you will have in your life... but it will be a good one, and wont bankrupt you!

Summary: Not the liveliest night out you will have, but plenty of cheap drinks and you wont have to stand in
