It's been said a million and one times. Brighton Rocks. It is one of the most vibrant places on Earth, and Ali-Cats is a great place to get away from the fast pace of the World in general. Situated behind the Prodigal, near the Pier, on Brighton's seafront, it is an underground place with friendly service and great prices. Pints of Stella go for about £1.80 during Happy Hour, which in Brighton is a great price! Also in Happy Hour ... free films! Yes, free films. This is one of very few places that shows blockbusters as soon as they are out on Video and this just adds to its appeal. It is small, dark, and has great music. It is very very friendly and everyone seems to find something different to enjoy there. Not much else we can say except that it is one of our favourite pubs and if you haven't been there uyet, what are you waiting for?

As you travel along the A27 westwards from Eastbourne towards Lewes and Brighton, you may notice a small roadside sign pointing the way to a pub which lies about 1/4 mile off to the left. You will find yourself in a very small village by the name of Berwick and at a pub which is called 'The Cricketers'. Even though this public house is located in a small hamlet, it is extremely popular, and consequently can be very busy. The first thing that you will notice is that there are no hand-pumps. All the beers (Harvey's of Lewes- cracking!), are on tap straight out of the barrel. There are also soft drinks and spirits on offer. The food is out of this world. From sausage platters to steak, from fish and chips to a prawn salad that comes with a half-pint glass packed with unpeeled prawns. It is all truly fantastic. The pub garden is very pretty, with plenty of space for seating and for young children to run around. There is also car parking to the front and to the rear of the pub. The one drawback is its popularity. It can be heaving with diners in the summer- but you really shouldn't let that put you off. Go to the Cricketers and have a drink and some delightful pub grub!
