Kilkenny in Ireland is a fantastic place to visit and cetrtainly has plenty of pubs to offer! We have been here several times for the annual CatLaughs Comedy Festival that takes place in June and love every visit to it. The Comedy Festival features lots of individual shows located in the many pubs scattered around the town/village and so you soon end up getting to know all the places to grab a Guinness!
One of the best pubs that has actually been featured on the Ireland Tourist Board TV adverts is Kytelers Inn and is one of the oldest pubs in Kilkenny - and probably the most famous in Ireland full stop. It is an old stone building in which the business was originally established in around 1324 by Dame Alice Kyteler, and it now serves a variety of beers and also is a great spot for food. It is located right in the centre of the town on Kieran Street and is one of the pubs that you should definitely visit on a trip to Kilkenny.
Others that are worth a visit are Langtons on John Street which is actually a hotel too, and Bollards on Kieran Street, but generally there are loads of pubs and bars and so a good old pub crawl is definitely recommended in Kilkenny!
If you do go to the pubs of Kilkenny just watch out for good old Mrs Doyle from Father ted, aka Pauline McGlynn, as she is a resident of Kilkenny and can sometimes be seen out and about!
