Being from Louth I suppose I have a slightly biased opinion. However, if you want to visit an area thats not touristy, and near to the coast, Louth, or Dundalk, situated in the middle between Belfast and Dublin is ideal. The pubs in Dundalk are a slght to behold. There's one to cater for every taste, from yuppified chic, to the good ol' porter house, where, on certain nights you can be guranteed a traditional séisiun ceol. Park street in Dundalk has the most number of pubs with 3 night clubs also, and provides a good selection for everybody. From Courtney's ath the top, an elegant rustic setting which attracts the 25-35 elegant professional crowd, to Russell's Bus Saloon, providing a mix of students and older folk alike. All in all, a trip to Dundalk's pubs would be worth the visit, and if you fancy a pub crawl, they're all thoughtfully placed in easy manageable steps apart.
