On walking into the pub
When you get to the doors of the pub, you are not greeted by the normal walk up a few steps that I am used to, the pub is all on a flat surface. The double doors can be a little heavy to open. Once in the pub you have very large seating areas, you have a large corner part full of seats, and also then you have another section with a little step to go up and even more seating.
Straight ahead is the bar which is quite large and is nearly the full length of the pub so there is always plenty of room for you to stand to wait to get served. There is even more seating area just over from the bar, then straight down they have a pool table and darts board and also some slot machines. There is another few seats that will seat around 8 people near the pool table, which costs 50p a game. Also just across from the bar there are the ladies and gents toilets. The pub is pretty large with quite a lot of seating space, and also plenty of room to move in the middle of the pub. I think this pub is quite well set out in terms of moving space and standing space if you don't want to sit down.
Well I was in here last night for a couple of pints before I hit my next pub, I only went to the bar once as my boyfriend went the first time, and the staff seemed ok they served me straight away, although the pub was not that busy so I would not expect to have had to wait anyway. They seemed friendly enough but made no effort to try and stroke up conversation, it seems you need to be a regular for them to chat to you, but I was impressed with the quick service.
Well I never bought just one drink but for a pint of lager and a pint of cider it cost me £6.70 which I found a little on the expensive side but we did only stay for two drinks.
Well as i was in there for only a short while I can not say what they have on every night, but while I was there they played a general knowledge quiz, which we came second in and got a bottle of sparkling wine for, then they played a pop quiz straight after but we left half way through that. I do know on a Sunday night that they have a Karaoke but besides these I am not really sure what else they do.
The toilets are very nice smelling and very clean, they have 3 cubicles, hmm it may have eve been 4 loll but there was more than enough for how many were in the pub, they were well stocked up with toilet roll and hand wash, they also had working hand dryers so the toilets had everything that you need, including big mirrors to touch up your make up.
Suitable for wheelchairs
Well I know they have disabled access into the pub and there s more than enough space to move a wheel chair around the pub, but I never saw a disabled toilet, although I would say the toilets are wide enough to get a wheel chair through so I would say that it could be suitable.
Why you may like it
* If you like quizzes
* Nice atmosphere
* Large seating areas
* Fast service
* Not too crowded
Why you may not like it
* Bit pricey
* If you don't like quizzes
My overall opinion
I did find it a good pub and every one seemed friendly in it, I even had a banter with the bloke who did the quiz which made a change from some quiz masters loll. I did find the beer a little on the dear side how ever but thats the only bad thing I can say about this pub. They also do food in there through the day which seems to be cheap from £3.95 a meal although I am not sure what they are like. The pub is close to some other pubs so if you don't end up liking it you can always walk across the road to another pub. I don;t think its somewhere I would stay all night but thats only because of the prices in there. Nut I got a free bottle of wine so I got something back out of it loll, I was only there for an hour but I did have a good time while I was there.
