If you are ever in York try a visit to the Royal Oak which is situated in Goodramgate close to the minster. The Royal Oak is a traditional English public house, when you arrive there you will see a white fronted oak beamed building with leaded glass windows, inside are three main rooms the bar, lounge and snug (which is a non smoking family room uptil nine at night). each room is tastefully decorated with a coal effect gas fire in each. Four real ales are always available, two house and two guest, which are always kept in excellent condition! There are also lagers, cider, stout and a selection of bottles for the non traditionalists!
