Beware of landlady! (Ship Inn)

Disadvantages: Terrible atmosphere and very unhelpful staff

I visited the shipp Inn today with a friend and our 1 year old babies. We have beeen here a few times for lunch, the food is nothing to rave about but we are local and the prices are reasonable. The pub has terrible access for pushchairs, the front entrance has steps and the rear entrance was blocked with a counter holding cutlery and condiments which we had to pick up together and move to get by.
When we went inside we struggled to get through the occupied tables to a table of our own, when we did get there, I would say there were no less than 2 waitresses and the landlady near by, No-one offered to get highchairs so we went and found some as the Landlady looked on and watched us struggle to assemble them with no offer of assistance. While my friend went to order her meal I gave the babies breadsticks and nibbles that I had brought to passify them until lunch arrived also giving my son a baby beaker with his drink and my friend had brought her daughters favourite fruit shoot. The landland walked over, stared intimidatingly at me and walked away.
When our meals arrived including bread and a bowl of chips for the children, the landlady -while slamming the plates down, aggresivly told us that we wern't to bring our own food and drink for the babies as they sold stuff there, when we said that in future we would go elsewhere as all other pubs in Caerleon have happily warmed up dinners that I have brought with us in the past we were told "Well I am the landlady honey" This woman is the most arrogand, rude abbrasive woman I have ever met and as a local assuming that this was a child friendly pub will most definatly never be returning the The Shipp while this vile aggresive lady is there.

Summary: Do not go here if you have children!
